Day Two of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) gave some nail-biting contests, as it always is with the knockout stages of the Primetime show.
First, it was Kumasi SHTS that bottled their lead and saw them lose their seeded spot.
St Ignatius of Loyola SHS from the Upper West Region booked a quarterfinal spot and a guaranteed start in the 2020 competition.
Joy like a river in her soul
Next, it was University Practice SHS (UPSS) who had to justify their inclusion as a seeded school. To do that they had to put down Asamankese SHS and Bolgatanga Girls’ SHS.
Asamankese was on the heels of the seeded school throughout but it did not happen.
Disappointment for the Eastern Region school
Then came the big one; the Kumasi derby.
The deciding moment was when the winner emerged in the final round.
The first two were picked by KASS to put them in the lead but OWASS won’t go down easy. They picked the last two riddles to regain their lead and eventual victory.
The R.S. Amegashie Auditorium was electrified; their expressions on the faces of the victors would tell anyone that this for them is a big one.
